Our Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Outreach Program, held at Burgettstown Area Middle/High School, was sponsored by Sharon Baillie, Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher and her FCCLA chapter as part of their Stop the Violence project. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to share Demi’s message with the student body and faculty. We cannot thank the student volunteers enough for all their help with the distribution of signature LHAS xoshove≠trulove t-shirts, printed materials and wristbands.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to Principal Michael Wright for offering his personal remarks following the presentation and recognizing the importance of addressing Teen Dating Violence.

On average, high school students spend 90% of their time with their peers. Most of their ideas about dating relationships comes from T.V., movies and interacting with each other. A recent study, published in the journal Pediatrics, reports that educating teens through school-based intervention proved to be an effective way to decrease and stop teen dating abuse.

Thank you Burgettstown for believing that Demi’s message can make a difference!
